Uplift Your State of Mind: It All Starts Inside
I’ve come to realize that the most powerful changes in life begin internally. Whenever I’ve felt stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, it wasn’t the situation that needed to change — it was me. More specifically, it was my state of mind, and I’m responsible for it.
How to Uplift Your State of Mind and Lead with Optimism Every Day
When I’m in a low state, everything feels cloudy. I’m anxious, reactive, and easily discouraged. But when I shift into a high state, something incredible happens. I start to see solutions where I used to see problems. I feel more present and grounded. I’m able to respond to challenges with clarity instead of emotion.
In The One Truth, I learned that a low state of mind breeds fear, disconnection, and doubt. In contrast, a high state of mind is built on love, courage, peace, and connection. And that shift — from low to high — doesn’t require my circumstances to change. It requires me to reconnect with the truth inside me.
One analogy that stuck with me is the coffee bean. When dropped into a pot of boiling water, the coffee bean doesn’t just sit there — it transforms the water. Likewise, I’ve learned that I don’t have to be a product of my environment. I can be the one who transforms it.
That starts with small, powerful decisions:
Love over fear.
Connection over isolation.
Trust over doubt.
In a world that constantly tries to pull me into fear and negativity, I remind myself that the power is within. The love inside me must be greater than the fear around me. Every day, I recommit to uplifting my state of mind—not just for me, but for those I lead and serve.
Leading with Optimism and Belief
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in leadership is this: Leadership is a transfer of belief.
If I don’t believe, how can I expect anyone else to? If I’m discouraged or pessimistic, that energy trickles down into my team, my family, and my work. But if I lead with hope, courage, and belief, others will rise with me.
I’ve seen firsthand how powerful belief can be. Research supports it — optimists tend to work harder, perform better, and succeed more often. Why? Because they believe in a better future and take action toward it. They don’t just sit around hoping — they move with purpose.
But belief doesn’t just show up on its own. I have to fuel it every single day. And that’s where one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received comes in, from Dr. James Gills:
“Talk to yourself instead of listening to yourself.”
When I simply listen to myself, I often hear doubt, fear, and discouragement — the voice of the inner critic. But when I talk to myself with intention, I speak life, truth, and strength. I remind myself of who I am and why I’m here.
So every day, I speak these truths to myself:
- I was made for this.
- I have what it takes.
- I am more than my circumstances.
- I am here to lift others up.
I no longer wait for belief to magically appear. I create it. I choose optimism. I uplift my state. And as I do, I lead others with the same energy and conviction.
Final Thought
In uncertain times, it’s easy to feel like everything is out of our control. But what I’ve learned is that the most important thing — my mindset — is always within my reach.
When I uplift my state of mind, I change the way I see, feel, and act. And when I lead with belief and optimism, others follow. That’s how change happens — not from the outside in, but from the inside out.
